DiAnn Sherk

Preserving the authenticity of the fifties was the most important part of the renovation of this Boulder, Colorado home built in 1950. The owners–a retired architect and an artist, were inspired by the home’s good bones and classic design. They worked with architect DiAnn Sherk of Boulder Associates to open up the home and bring it up to code. I love what the owner said about the interior: "This home gave us an opportunity to reach back to happy times and the classic design and furnishings we’ve both always respected and enjoyed.” Very cool! Porchlight Interiors

The recent holiday edition of Australia's Adore Magazine had me drooling all over the place, it was overflowing with scrumptious color and great design!! I really loved the feature on a vibrant Queensland coastal home designed by the talented designers Hayley Hayes and Tracey Leeson of Porchlight Interiors. I added a few more photos here that I love from their portfolio too, so you can see just how fabulous this duo is! Such great use of color and pattern...I love all the fabrics they chose! For more eye-candy from them, visit their website as well as their blog!

A touch of the unexpected

Isn't it always interesting  when you walk into a space and see touches of excitement in the decor? It could be a great piece of art, a collection of objects or unexpected colour combination.  This ottoman is a ray of sunshine in an otherwise monochromatic room (flowers don't count).

Vases massed by colour are pretty spectacular as a focal point.  Finding interesting ways to show collections can add excitement to a plain room.

Why not choose an exotic colour and paint a cabinet, table or the inside of a bookcase?

Spectacular draperies can make a room.  This tight colour scheme becomes interesting when various patterns are added. The bold stripes in the drapes are very eye catching.

A stenciled wall  is sure to be a focal point in  any  room.

If you're going to hang photographs you may as well go for it and create a gallery wall.

Ana Antunes' Tiffany Table

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday weekend! Now it's time to start wrapping our heads around the idea of 2012 and ringing in the new year! Let's all imagine for a moment we're in Portugal for New Year's Eve, at the breathtaking home of designer (and fellow turquoise lover) Ana Antunes. The dining room alone is enough to make your heart melt, but what girl wouldn't love the Tiffany theme? The cupcakes and little blue boxes are perfection! Oh the fun we would have! You can see lots more photos over at Ana's blog Home-Styling!
