You can't go wrong with AF Collector's Item

Every morning I wake to Benjamin Moore's AF 45 Collector's Item. I like it so much and it is so versatile that I plan to paint my guest room the same colour!  Of course, I will have different accents and the room will look different because of those choices. It is a beautiful colour to hang art work on, and if you are fair it makes your skin look beautiful! Not a bad thing when you have to look in the mirror every  morning. I can't think on an accent colour that would look terrible with  Collector's Item.  I choose a soft green with a secondary accent of grayed purple. I'm getting ready to upholster the  chair which has to just sit there because the space is so limited.  On the left is the ensuite door. .  This  geometric fabric left over from another job is my current like, but that could change next week.  I know I want something with a little pattern.<br /><br /> I can't seem to re-gift my Tiffany lamp even thought it is slightly off in the room. Sentiment wins with me every time. I guess you've already figured out I don't have matching furniture.   It's the artist in me.  I love to take assorted items and make them work. <br /><br /> The official description of Collector's Item  on the B Moore website as a "soft off-white hue with pink undertones" that "quietly supports a space like a pedestal supports a sculpture" is spot on.  Don't be thrown by the pink undertones in the description.  I like it because it doesn't have any  hints of yellow which is not complimentary for  someone with silver hair  and fair skin.   If you want to look good in the morning this is a the wall colour for you.<br /><br /> I've  also seen  Collector's Item  used as a trim colour  with darker neutrals such as Ashley Gray or <a href="http://www.benjaminmoore.ca/en-ca/for-your-home/rooms-by-colour/sophisticated-neutral-entry">Taos Taupe (2111-40)</a> as seen on the Benjamin Moore Site.  <br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsG0AMXbc4z0QhucCrS67yeLBd8AXDMWsBihT3zirPFwMFyOx02-ZDktG5b-RTYtEuv3mww1ydZzcMqPtc6NP9xYNcJUSKsy5GSQkUtau-MveV17Ka-ndpbL1_5PYuNZY44-fa4uZRA92l/s1600/Fairview+Taupe.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div>

I'm a die-hard fan of her work, so it was a must-see while I was in the area. I can't wait to share with you some photos! You can just see a peek of Benjamin Moore's Palladian Blue on the ceiling. Dorsey Designs</a> for coming up with this brilliant idea. Above each desk is pegboard painted to mimic the bedding. This is such an inspirational blog and I can't believe that my laundry room is now part of it!<br /><br />My Husband, whom I refer to as "Mr. Project" has been fulfilling all my dreams this past year as he completely gutted and renovated our new home. We've completed so many projects like our <a href="http://www.theprojectgirl.com/2011/09/09/towel-dilema-solved-and-chandelier-completes-the-guest-bathroom/">Guest Bathroom</a>, <a href="http://www.theprojectgirl.com/2011/12/07/master-bathroom-reveal/">Master Bathroom</a>, and biggest of all our <a href="http://www.theprojectgirl.com/tag/kitchen/">Kitchen</a>.<br /><br />Our most recent project is my new shiny laundry room. When Mr. Project suggested we paint the cabinets blue, I was giddy with anticipation of my new turquoise laundry room. I know most people might have just painted the old cabinets and put on shiny new hardware, but I'm super lucky because Mr. Project has a wood shop and can build cabinets from scratch. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So knowing that the sky was the limit, I made a plan for my husband to start with. So we found some affordable marble tile at Home Depot and had our tile guy go for it. It turned out absolutely stunning, and I wish the photos did it justice! I've been dying to share this special room with House of Turquoise readers.<br /><br />The inspiration for my design was this whimsical houndstooth fabric from <a href="http://www.wesleyhall.com/" target="_blank">Wesley Hall</a>.<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-c7Q2W8S/0/O/i-c7Q2W8S.jpg" /><br /></div><br />When I was creating the fabric palette, I instantly started to drool over this turquoise velvet. This velvet now adorns what is affectionately called "Mommy's chair" - i.e. if you're sitting there, and I come along, you better get up!<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-NnkTD5v/0/O/i-NnkTD5v.jpg" /><br /></div><br />Next I fell in love with these lamps from <a href="http://www.thenaturallight.com/" target="_blank">The Natural Light Company's</a> custom color ceramic program. Turquoise, linen and lucite = yummy! (Plus they are really tall and are 3-way which is key for me!)<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-jxG3vpK/0/O/i-jxG3vpK.jpg" /><br /></div><br />Then.... drumroll please... the <i>pièce de résistance </i>as they say - an original piece of art by Atlanta artist <a href="http://kimschuessler.com/" target="_blank">Kim Schuessler</a> called Ring Around the Rosies. Besides the fact that this particular piece reminded me of myself and my two (blonde) daughters, the little turquoise bird was the clincher! What are the chances (well, great actually cuz everybody loves turquoise!).<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-vKcLvNV/0/O/i-vKcLvNV.jpg" /><br /></div><br />It's the little touches that always make a difference - right? Like the delicate turquoise coaster my glass of Pinot Grigio must sit on every night.<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-7S7MGv4/0/O/i-7S7MGv4.jpg" /><br /></div><br />This is a room our entire family genuinely enjoys. Finding the *perfect* lighting for this home was probably the most difficult part of the project, with this room's fixtures being the last to procure.
